Book 3 is suitable for the guitarist who has been
reading music for at least two years and has reached
a good intermediate standard. To learn from this
book you will need to know all 1st position notes
some higher notes on the 1st string, and be comfortable
reading all note rhythms from semibreves to semiquavers
and dotted semiquavers. You need to know most
basic chords as well. This book takes through
a number of rhythm patterns and new chord shapes,
and clearly explains how to work out all common
bar chords. Note reading covers playing notes
up to and including the 7th position and new note
rhythms eg. triplets. New time signatures are
also learnt e.g. 6/8, 9/8 and 12/8. Book 3 is

classical guitarists. It features great arrangements
by Marc Ongley of: Inventions No.1, 10 & 14
(J S Bach) - Two studies in A major & C major
(F Sor) - Madrigal (Barrios) - String Quartet
No.6 (Haydn) - Rondo Alla Turca (Mozart). The
book has 134 pages. Music is written out in separate
parts and also in full score (for leaders/conductors).
Duet, Trio and Quartet arrangements are used.
Marc Ongley has made extensive use of dynamics
to help players develop excellent interpretation
